Weekly Devotion: Easter Celebration

John 13:
"Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord; and you are right, for so I am. If I then, the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet. For I gave you an example that you also should do as I did to you. Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master, nor is one who is sent greater than the one who sent him. If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them."

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

"Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I got prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way where I am going."

John 14:

"Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father but through Me."

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, you will keep My commandments."

"He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him."

"But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful."

John 15:
"I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing."

"No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. You did not chose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask for the Father in My name He gave give to you."

"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you."

"If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me."

John 16:
"These things I have spoken to yo so that you may be kept from stumbling."

"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of Mine and will disclose it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine; therefore I said that He takes of Mine and will disclose it to you."

"Whenever a woman is in labor she has pain, because her hour has come; but when she gives birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world. Therefore you too have grief now; but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you."

"In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you."

"In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

John 17:
"O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them."

John 20:
"Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sings of any, their sins have been forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they have been retained."

"Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed."

John 21:
"Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go."

Mark 14:
"She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial. Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her."

Good afternoon my Lord. I have come to see you. Forgive me, for I took a long break. I cannot do this. I wished something different could happen but I am back to where I was again. What is your plan? I truly lack in understanding and knowledge. Since you are my teacher, please, help me. I have walked away from you... don't tell me that it was part of your plan. Yes, I did not search you. I am sorry. Yes, I did neglect in reading bible, and this sense of emptiness only got bigger!!! My confession is this; You have to be above anything, and I live temptation where I cannot fulfill this. Ah, what a harsh world.

So, where do I get back onto the track again? I guess I would have to walk step by step again. There is no shortcut in this. Since I reflect on my mistake, let's forgive myself, and I need to be moving back again. Hopefully, I could do better next time, but I know that I already repeated this thousand times in my life. I am thankful that I am young. I can fail again and again. This time will not last forever, so I hope that I am learning valuable lessons from here.

Happy Easter. You have overcome the world. My victorious father! Than you for coming down and saving us.

[Book] Problem of Pain - C.S. Lewis

http://allaboutcslewis.com/2013/05/17/the-problem-of-pain/ I pick-up this book while I was working in HaeunDae. It took me a week to read this book, and I read in Korean. The context is complex. But there are few things that I remember about this book. One word to remember from this book is probably the last sentence of the book. It says pain helps to show heroic ability or reveal such quality. Some people may fall into deeper pain, but most of the people end up showing their heroic quality. Pain helps people to strengthen their spirit, but that is not to say that pain is good all the time. Romans 8:16 writes that the pain leads it to show God's glory, but we need to acknowledge some downfall that pain may lead into. Anyway, people learn how to give-up themselves and learn how to give their ego instead of having strong self ego. Lewis knew this. He also talks about how heaven is very important. Its existence determines whether Chri...
