[Translation Practice] Political Science 207: Neo-liberalism:Institutions as Enablers of Cooperation 신자유주의: 협동을 가능하게해주는 기관들

신 자유주의는 무엇인가요?

무정부상태 에서의 협동
반복적으로 협동을 가능하게 하기 위해, 나라들이 국제적인 구조 (international structure)를 건설합니다

하여, 국제기관들을 설립합니다.

국제기관들의 이론 (i.e. regime (정권;체제)

- 한 분야의 문제들을 해결하기 위해서 여려 기관들이 모입니다
- 문제들의 상태
-> 어떤 주제냐에 따라서 갈리는데, 거기서 기관들이 내놓은 해결책을 통해서 행동패턴 (pattern of behavior)이 만들어지는 것은 3준위라고 칭합니다, 왜냐하면 하나의 문제안 속에 쳬게적으로 또는 조직적으로 많은 나라들이 움직이고 있기 때문이지 않을까요?

배경 설명: 협동을 향한 조건 [cf. Oye]

1)돈을 갚는 구조 (pay-off)를 형성하느냐, 2) 얼마나 반복 (iteration) 을 하느냐, 그리고 
3)참가자들의 수 (number of players)에 따라서 갈린다.

- 돈을 갚는 (pay-off) 구조 -> 기관들을 설립
- 반복 (iteration) -> 기관들을 설립
- 참가자들의 수(number of players) -> 기관들을 설립

- 돈을 갚는 구조 (시큐어러티딜레마 안에서의 협동)는 불확실성의 레벨이 매우 중요하다고 볼 수 있다. 예를 들자면, 상대방의 의사가 불확실하다면 협동이 불가능하겠지만, 그 레벨이 낫다면 협동이 충분히 가능하다는 의미이다.

-> 불확실성의 레벨은 , 미래 (future), 의사 (intention), 예상/기대 (expectation)

미래는 죄수의 딜레마를 봐서 알 수 있겠지만, 죄수의 딜레마에서는 플레이어들이 미래에 대한 불확실함 때문에 협동을 선택하기보다는 후자를 선택한다, 즉 탈당을 한다. 그렇기에, 미래에 대한 불확실함을 어떻게 해결한다면, 협동이 가능하게 된다.

의사는 사슴 사냥 게임을 봐서 알 수 있겠지만, 사슴 사냥 게임에서는 플레이들이 다른 플레이어들의 의사에 따라서 협동을 하거나 탈당을 한다; 그렇기에, 각 플레이어들이 협동을 한다는 의사가 "확실/장담 (assurance)"하다면, 협동이 가능하다.

마지막으로 예상은 치킨게임에서 볼 수 있다. 두 개의 자동차가 충돌하는 길로 가고 있다. 그 상황에서 어느 한쪽이 양보를 하지 않으면 둘 다 엄청난 손해 보는 상황이 발생한다. 하지만, 만약 협동을 하게 된다면, 누가 먼저 양보를 해야 할지를 생각을 해야 해서 까다롭다 (complicated).

What is Neoliberalism?
-      Cooperation under Anarchy
-      States build institutional structures to facilitate iteration

A theory of international institutions (i.e. regimes) … (Neoliberalism)
-      Set of institutions gathered (UN…. Is foundational institution) -> focus on one area

-      Problem Condition (varies by issue area) -> Institutional Solution (i.e. rational design) -> Patterns of Behavior (among member-states) – Third Level (involving all states)

-      Payoff Structure -> Institutions
-      Iteration -> Institutions
-      Number of Players -> Institutions

-      Payoff Structure (i.e. cooperation under SD)

o   Depends on the level of uncertainty

o   Uncertainty of the future (i.e. “Prisoner’s Dilemma)

o    Uncertainty of intentions (i.e. security dilemma or “Stag Hunt”)

o   Uncertainty of expectations (Coordination or “Chicken”) -> Two cars

Hi :) last meal before leaving New York 갈비탕 (galbi soup) in Korea Town heading to New York Public Library guy juggling New York Public Library back entrance front entrance I started reading this book since the travel. Though I did not finish reading the whole book, it brought me more fun during the travel since the setting in the book takes place in New York. I think I should do this more (taking books that are related to the place I travel).

[Book] Problem of Pain - C.S. Lewis

But there are few things that I remember about this book. One word to remember from this book is probably the last sentence of the book. It says pain helps to show heroic ability or reveal such quality. Some people may fall into deeper pain, but most of the people end up showing their heroic quality. Pain helps people to strengthen their spirit, but that is not to say that pain is good all the time. Romans 8:16 writes that the pain leads it to show God's glory, but we need to acknowledge some downfall that pain may lead into.
