Weekly Devotion: Psalm 147; Ecclesiastes 3;7

Calvin College is a snowtown again. If I am recalling correctly, I learned in my high school that poets used to connect themselves with snow a lot. I remember reading a specific poem that starts with a narrator walking on the snow with a girl who seems to be his daughter. The narrator soon mourns because it was actually a portion his memory of the girl who is now dead. The time passes, and the narrator is out on the snow walking with a girl again. This time, the girl asks to the narrator, "where does the snow come from?" I cannot precisely remember how he answered, but I think he answered that God created the snow and sent it down to earth. We discussed in the class that God takes huge part in the poem and found a theme of snow that symbolized a bandage that covered the wound of the narrator. Although snow may be his reflection of pain and sorrow, God sent snow again, but the narrator was thankful for the snow while he was remembering his lost daughter. And he was stand...
