Departure to America/things you need to prepare for college life in America for international student
As an international student, I feel a significant amount of pressure.
The tension that I am feeling right now cannot be numerically measure.
I packed two huge carriers with clothes, shoes, and other stuffs and one backpack that has my laptop, Ipad, important stuffs.
Yo, did your college required anything after I got admitted?
I had to get my health record in Korea so because my college requires immunization record from students. It sent me an email of which immunizations that I need(there was like 20...)
I had to pay some money to get my I-20.
Hey, what is most important?
According to the instruction that was given by international coordinator, I was required to bring passport, visa, letter of admission, a copy of financial document, and I-20.
- Until I applied for college, I did not know what was I-20, which it is an important document for international students who will be attending college/university in America.
- Tip! That visa.. making an interview appointment + interviewing day are very tiring..
In Turkey, visa comes out maximum 7 days after interview (be careful that the interviewers will be taking your passport so that they can put visa on it.)
So, what do I need to buy in America?
America uses electronic devices that are either 120, 110 voltage, so buying those is definitely required. A new telephone, which I wish I could buy some good ones(such as G3 lol).
Am, what does my college provide?
My college provides most of the necessary stuffs but not all. I still need to buy bed sheets, blankets, pillow, bedspread or comforter. I also need to buy some personal items such as hair dryer, wax, alarm clock, shampoo, and soap.
Thankfully, my college provides an international orientation that helps me to create my bank account!!
Btw, I forgot to make an airplane mileage card.. I suggest making one of those quickly.
